Glossar: Magnetic fields with inductive sensors

Eddy current Sensors with an air-cored inductor are not influenced by a magnetic field. In contrast, a magnetic field can modify the properties of the Measurement object and thus indirectly influence the measurement with Eddy current Sensors. Sensors which use a core, such as LVDTs or the induSENSOR Series LVP, can be influenced by magnetic fields, because the permeability of the core can change due to the magnetic field. This influence can be prevented or substantially reduced by suitable screening precautions when mounting the Sensor.
